The New York State online challenge begins in September and runs through February. Players work independently through a series of online quizzes gaining a cumulative score from which team scores are tallied to determine top qualifiers. The qualifying teams progress to the New York State competition, March 18, 2008 at the New York State Museum in Albany. The state champion advances to the national competition, held April 12-15, 2008 in Minneapolis, MN.
Registered coaches receive a classroom set of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) publication, Guide To Money: Getting a Good Start. Students who read the booklet, complete the online LifeSmarts competition and take the Guide to Money quiz will be eligible to win a $100 gift check.
Special Information for Coaches
Only one team per high school or organization will be allowed to compete during the in-person competition. This will allow for increased participation across the state.
During the in-person competition, teams will advance based on a modified, double elimination.
