The NYCUF is dedicated to the credit union movement’s ‘people helping people’ philosophy.

In 1959, the New York State Credit Union League established the "Sidney Stahl Memorial Foundation," a charitable arm of the League whose purpose was to assist New York credit union volunteers with their educational and training needs.

The Sidney Stahl Memorial Foundation was refocused and renamed to the New York Credit Union Foundation (NYCUF) in 1995 to advance the ideals and goals of the credit union movement in New York State, with an emphasis on consumer financial education, especially among young people.
