Biz Kid$ Media & Public Relations
Biz Kid$ is a fun, 30-minute PBS television series about entrepreneurship and financial literacy that entertains and teaches kids how to make and manage money, while inspiring them to pursue their dreams. Biz Kid$ is exclusively underwritten by America’s Credit Unions—a coalition of credit unions, credit union leagues and foundations, affiliated system organizations and service providers—and will include customized classroom curriculum currently under development by JA Worldwide (Junior Achievement) that corresponds with each episode.
JA Worldwide
JA Worldwide is the world's largest organization dedicated to inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy. Through a dedicated volunteer network, JA Worldwide provides in-school and after-school programs for students in grades K-12. JA Worldwide offers educational programs that focus on seven key content areas: business, citizenship, economics, entrepreneurship, ethics/character, financial literacy, and career development. Today, 140 individual area operations reach approximately four million students in the United States, with more than 3.5 million students served by operations in 114 countries worldwide.
America’s Credit Unions
For the purpose of Biz Kid$, the term "America’s Credit Unions" refers to the coalition of credit unions, credit union leagues, credit union foundations, affiliated system organizations and service providers who have made material contributions to Biz Kid$. The coalition took on the moniker of "America’s Credit Unions" with permission from CUNA (Credit Union National Association), a Washington, D.C., and Madison, Wis., based national trade association serving America's credit unions. CUNA is also the owner of the "America’s Credit Unions" trademark. For more information about CUNA, visit the link above. For a complete list of Biz Kid$ contributors representing America’s Credit Unions, visit www.JABizKidsPR.com.
Credit Union National Association
CUNA (Credit Union National Association), based in Washington, D.C., and Madison, Wisconsin, is the premier national trade association serving America's credit unions. The not-for-profit trade group is governed by volunteer directors who are elected by their credit union peers.
National Credit Union Foundation
As the philanthropic and social responsibility arm of the U.S. credit union system, the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) raises funds, makes grants, manages programs and provides educational and related services that promote and improve consumers' financial independence through credit unions. NCUF grants, programs and services help create greater access to affordable financial services, provide widespread financial education, and empower more credit union members to build assets.
U.S. Government
MyMoney.gov is the U.S. government's website dedicated to teaching all Americans the basics about financial education. Throughout the site, you will find information from 20 federal agencies.
Jump$tart
First convened in December, 1995, the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy determined that the average student who graduates from high school lacks basic skills in the management of personal financial affairs. Many are unable to balance a checkbook and most simply have no insight into the basic survival principles involved with earning, spending, saving and investing.
