Contact schools with which the credit union has established relationships. If the credit union does not have established relationships with involved parents, teachers or administrators of local schools, contact NYCUF to assist in making contacts.
Set dates to go into the classrooms for a Kid’s Cash Kit presentation. In preparing the materials for your presentation, keep in mind the age level and attention span of each group.
Use the public relations tool kit provided by NYCUF to spread the word about the program in your community. Materials include a sample letter to parents, sample press release that can be customized for each credit union, sample Kid’s Cash project copy for member newsletters and sample copy for Web sites.
Visit classrooms for the initial presentation. Take Kid ’s Cash Kit and Caboodle materials and discuss the concepts of saving, spending and sharing. Click here for suggested classroom activities
Follow-up ActivityPlease encourage teachers to utilize the following activity, if at all possible.
- Schools/teachers conduct a Kid’s Cash Kit Report Day. Students will be asked to show their Picture Your Dreams Poster (contained in the kit) and talk about why they chose the items on their posters. Credit union presenters will revisit schools to hear the students’ reports and acknowledge student endeavors with certificates of achievement and/or by recognition in their credit union newsletter.
