Working in Partnership with Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide
The New York Credit Union Foundation works in partnership with Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide on several financial literacy initiatives.
Junior Achievement Presents: The NEFE® High School Financial Planning Program®is a “wrap-around” kit of five, volunteer-led sessions that support the HSFPP. The group activities introduce students to the importance of making wise financial decisions. The program demonstrates the importance of planning, goal setting, and thoughtful decision-making within the context of personal financial decisions.
Session One: A Month in the Life
Students play three different games that enable them to learn about budgeting and saving for the future.Session Two: From Dreams to Reality
Students complete personal investment guides, discuss investment options and plan for their financial futures.Session Three: Your Credit, Your Future
Students evaluate scenarios related to credit, discuss credit options, and make decisions to avoid credit pitfalls.Session Four: The Case of the Missing Identity
Students evaluate behavior that contributes to identity theft, and learn to take necessary actions to protect their identity.Session Five: Protect Yourself
Students play the “Make It Match” game, explore different types of insurance and identify how each type provides protection.

Junior Achievement Worldwide has also initiated a partnership with credit unions to reach four million kids in 178,000 classrooms across America, through the Biz Kid$ financial literacy and entrepreneurship program. BizKid$, which airs on Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) stations across the country, is underwritten by America’s Credit Unions. JA develops a customized curriculum that corresponds with each episode.
