What will the next generation of credit union members be like? Will they understand how to build and manage credit, or budget and save for the future? Will they make informed decisions and bring value to their credit unions and communities?
Here’s what we know today*:
53% of teens want to learn more about how to manage their money.
45% of graduating seniors are unsure or unprepared to manage their own banking and personal finances.
Relatively few teachers believe they are adequately prepared to teach personal finance topics.
Working in partnership with credit unions, the New York Credit Union Foundation is committed to changing these statistics through youth financial education. By making a personal, tax-deductible donation of at least $25.00 to the Foundation, you can invest in the next generation of members…and help make sure they get the financial education they need and deserve.
Your donation makes a difference!
• $25 provides one LifeSmarts competitor with a cash award
• $50 buys 10 Kids Cash Kits for children in an after-school program
• $100 pays for one teacher to attend financial education training
• $250 sends two teens to a Money & Me workshop
• $500 helps the NYS LifeSmarts Championship team compete at Nationals
