Annual Appeal 2010 - For individual donors

Individual contribution form

We are well aware of this country’s economic crisis. That’s why I’m writing to you about a different, yet related, crisis—one that is also impacting millions of Americans and threatening our futures. As a nation, we are financially illiterate. We all know credit union members, family or friends who don't know how to make a budget, save for life’s expenses or manage financial risk. Even worse, our children are growing up without these crucial skills, becoming adults whose lives are burdened by poor financial decisions.

Like the credit unions we serve, the New York Credit Union Foundation is committed to offering a solution to this crisis. But our success depends on the support of people like you who believe in the credit union philosophy—people who know how important financial education really is. As a credit union professional, you are one of the “people helping people.” You provide your members with the products and services they need for financial success.

And by supporting the Foundation, you can help us educate the next generation of credit union members. The Foundation continually provides free financial education programs and support to teachers, credit unions and New York families--2009 has certainly been a critical time for our services.

Nothing is more powerful than real-life stories from those we’ve impacted:

“My daughter’s awareness of money and how it works has broadened so much that she now regularly asks questions and looks to deepen her understanding of the financial world,” wrote one parent whose daughter participated in the Money & Me teen summer program.

“I saw [LifeSmarts] as an interesting and innovative way to learn some of those little facts about life that…are essential to surviving and succeeding as an adult,” shared a former student from Irondequoit High School.

“Our children are facing a very uncertain global economy, so they really have to be knowledgeable in order to survive,” said Holly DeMarco, an Amherst Central High School teacher. “The NEFE High School Financial Planning Program® is a toolbox they can use to ensure their financial future.”

These people—and countless others—have stories to tell because of you. Each time you make a personal, tax-deductible donation to the Foundation, you empower us to achieve our mission.
