Course Description
Designed by Devereux Emmet in 1909, the Leatherstocking Golf Course is a challenging, 18-hole championship golf course located at The Otesaga Resort in America’s most perfect village, Cooperstown, NY. The Otesaga was voted one of the 50 top U.S. golf resorts by readers of Condé Nast Traveler, in recognition of the Leatherstockings’ excellent design and level of difficulty.
The Leatherstocking Golf Course's natural contour sweeps along the western shore of Lake Otsego. With its deep sand bunkers, numerous water hazards and elevated fairways, the course ranks among the most scenic and demanding in the Northeast.

The par-4, 7th hole, considered the toughest on the course, plays 397-yards all uphill and often into the wind. The troublesome 9th is the most difficult par-3 on the course. Players can briefly relax once they reach the 12th hole, which plays just 138-yards downhill. The 13th and 14th holes are short par-4s, and along with the 15th, a 457-yard par 5, they offer excellent birdie opportunities.
The Leatherstocking’s three finishing holes are the most exciting on the course. The par-4, 16th requires a precise tee shot, while the par-3, 17th hole requires a tee shot to carry over a wide Lake Otsego water hazard. The grand finale of the course is the 18th hole--a 505-yard par 5, reminiscent of Pebble Beach--where the fairway sweeps to the left around Lake Otsego. Golfers tee off from our island tee, deciding how much of the Lake to 'bite off' to reach one of the finest finishing holes golf has to offer.
2009 Convention Golf Tournament
On August 2, 2009, 69 golfers braved the rain to play in a golf tournament benefiting the New York Credit Union Foundation (NYCUF) at the Saratoga Spa Golf Course.
The tournament raised $13,000, thanks to both the golfers and the event sponsors, including: CUNA Mutual Group, PSCU Financial, Discovery FCU, Universal Sharing Network (USNet), CompuSource, Synergent, CUC Mortgage Corporation, M&T Bank, UFirst FCU, Adirondack Chapter, Catskill-Hudson Chapter, Municipal CU and Melrose CU.
2009 Utica-Rome Chapter Golf Tournament
The Utica-Rome Chapter raised $4,400 for the New York Credit Union Foundation (NYCUF) at its golf tournament June 10, 2009. The tournament, held at Valley View Municipal Golf Course in Utica, was coordinated by Geno Gizzi. Event volunteers included Sherry Morosco (Utica District Telephone EFCU), Lori Brown and Debbie Bartlett (Utica Gas & Electric EFCU).
