This is Your Foundation
This is your Foundation…focused on helping you achieve your mission.
This is your Foundation…offering financial education programs, grants and special initiatives that empower you and your communities.
This is your Foundation…and it exists because credit unions like yours support it.

The New York Credit Union Foundation is committed to serving those who improve the financial literacy and independence of New Yorkers. We’re committed to serving you. Through financial education programs, grants and special initiatives, we empower New York’s credit unions to achieve their mission and improve their communities. The work we do is crucial. It’s powerful. And it’s only possible with the support of <CU Name>.
It’s crucial. An integral component in the “people helping people” philosophy is education. When you teach your members and communities about money management, you equip them to help themselves and others. Right now, Americans of all ages are struggling to manage debt, build savings and plan for their financial futures. Your credit union offers solutions on a local level, and the Foundation is committed to offering solutions statewide.
In 2010, the Foundation will focus specifically on education and grantmaking programs that offer credit unions like yours the most benefits, such as the National Endowment for Financial Education® (NEFE®) High School Financial Planning Program® (HSFPP), Money & Me, Kids Cash Kits and Professional Development Grants.
It’s powerful. The Foundation has trained thousands of educators and credit union professionals to teach the NEFE HSFPP curriculum to New York’s youth. We continue to generate a higher level of participation in LifeSmarts than any other state. Our financial literacy advocacy efforts have attracted the public support of state and federal legislators. These successes—and others—have distinguished New York credit unions and the Foundation as trusted community members and providers of financial education programs and services. (See insert for more Foundation accomplishments.)
It’s only possible with your support. The Foundation is sustained by the credit unions we serve and those who value their social mission as educators. The current economic climate has made our work even more crucial and powerful. It has also reinforced the fact that New York credit unions and the Foundation are in the business of improving financial literacy…because we can’t afford not to educate our members and soon-to-be members.
Your credit union can choose from a range of general membership levels that provide unrestricted funding for the Foundation. You can also choose to support a specific education program or sponsor the golf tournament instead of or in addition to your general membership support.
