LaVigna-Wixted Appointed to Grant Committee of Nat'l Foundation

(Albany, NY) – Diane LaVigna-Wixted, executive director of the New York Credit Union Foundation (Foundation) has been appointed to serve on the National Credit Union Foundation’s (NCUF) grant committee by NCUF Chairman Allan Kemp McMorris.

The grants committee approves or recommends for approval grant requests. The committee also provides oversight and guidance on the grants process as well as develops and approves the annual grants portfolio.

“I am extremely honored to have been appointed to this position and look forward to working with my colleagues to fulfill the goals of the grant committee,” said LaVigna-Wixted.

As executive director of the New York Credit Union Foundation, LaVigna-Wixted works in partnership with credit unions, schools and community organizations to improve financial literacy. The Foundation also offers financial support to credit unions through four grant-making programs: professional development grants, financial fitness grants, smart money grants and organizational grants. In 2008, the Foundation awarded 109 grants totaling $136,102.

LaVigna-Wixted is also a volunteer member of the executive committee of the State Credit Union Foundation Network.

Established in 1980, NCUF is the U.S. credit union movement’s primary national charitable program provider, fundraiser and grant-maker. Since inception, NCUF has provided tens of millions of dollar’s worth of programs and grants supporting its mission to promote consumer financial independence through credit unions.
