Financial Fitness Grants Totaling $35,600 Awarded by NY CU Foundation

(July 16 - Albany, NY) – The New York Credit Union Foundation has awarded $35,600 in Financial Fitness grants to 27 credit unions across the state for "behind-the-scenes" operating infrastructure needs to help improve member services.

The grants, ranging from $500 to $2,500, will provide necessary funding for a variety of projects, which include: website design, maintenance or enhancements; facility security; computer/copier purchases; online banking services, data processing upgrades; computer firewall systems; and more.

"All the requests received were to help respective credit unions complete projects or add services that would enhance member services," said Diane LaVigna-Wixted, executive director of the Foundation. "Extraordinary member service is a credit union hallmark, one that continues to set them apart from more traditional types of financial institutions."

The Foundation announced the availability of the grants in January, with an April 30 deadline and late June notification.
